Deep Language – Using Student Weblogs. Quote: “I'm going to have less time for blogging here because I am requiring my students to write blogs (instead of the web board assignment I have previously used) and so I am keeping one related to the class myself as a model. I won't put a link here as I don't want to make it easy for them to find this blog, but my course blog is on blogspot with the name hist323 so you can find it easily enough. It will take a week or so before the students start writing their own blogs, which will be the interesting part. Right now I have to go write them directions on how to start a blog”

Comment: As the semester is about to get under way, I'm not doing a very good job of explaining weblogs to people.
I have several faculty, my wife,Êand colleagues of my wife's who are interested in using them with students and I plan on having my students do them too this semester.Ê This is bringing up the obvious questions that I haven't had to think about for a long time, e.g. why? how? what kinds of assignments?
So, how 'bout it?Ê What scenarios have people had students doing weblogs in?Ê Group projects (“Duncan”), Individual ( Jim McGee ), Class Projects .Ê Is it just low-cost content management or is there something different here?Ê I'll read my archives, but I'd appreciate responses. i might use a weblog in my class this summer…
